Main Altary
XV and XVI century
Stylistically very similar to the Altar of the Holy Sacrament, it is enriched with a palette of ornate work and embroidery of exceptional texture placed under a one- piece marble table supported by two large countertops decorated with acanthus leaves The elements that currently constitute the marble group in the left part of the nave ,the work of Andrea Guardi, were once part of this altar .
The altar is in the centre of the Presbitery .The column supporting the altar stone presumably dates back to the XIth century and is considered one of the oldest elements in the Cathedral.
